CSE 8: Education and Support Group Personnel

Education and support group
personnel are qualified by education,
training, and experience to provide services.
NA The organization does not provide education or support groups.
Personnel leading education and support groups have the competence and support needed to:
- engage and motivate group members;
- educate individuals and families about community resources;
- advocate for individuals and families;
- identify symptoms of health, mental health, or substance use conditions;
- understand group dynamics;
- lead discussions; and
- facilitate group activities.
Interpretation: Competency can be demonstrated through education, training, and experience in
human services.
Supervisors are qualified by:
- a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in human services; or
- substantial experience in human services including at least two years’ experience with outreach, prevention, or support services.
Employee workloads support the achievement of client outcomes, are regularly reviewed, and are based on an assessment of the following:
- the qualifications, competencies, and experience of the worker, including level of supervision needed;
- the work and time required to accomplish assigned tasks and job responsibilities; and
- service volume.
NA Education and support group personnel also provide individual and family counseling (CSE 7.04).
